Twilight Market Wins Tourism Innovation Award

The first Twilight Market held at Belfast's St George's Market has won the Tourism Innovation Award at the Northern Ireland Tourism Awards 2016.

The first market in November 2015 St George's Market was transformed into a bustling bazaar showcasing the best of the city's food and drink scene.

The market beat stiff competition from Rockin' Boat Trips (Causeway Sea Fishing Company) and We Are Vertigo to scoop the prize at the awards ceremony in Derry/Londonderry, organised by Tourism Northern Ireland.

The award win comes in the same week that St George's hosted its second Twilight Market.

The event was extended to over two nights and welcomed over 18,000 people through its doors for chef demonstrations, live music, family activities and delicious culinary treats from local producers.

St George's Market Scoops Prestigious Award
St George's Market has been named the UK's Best Heritage Project in the National Lottery Awards. St George's Market is one of Belfast's oldest visitor attractions dating back to the 1890s and was renovated and restored thanks to a National Lottery grant of more than £2m from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

St George's Market Shortlisted For Award
St George's Market has been shortlisted in the 'Best Food Market' category of this year's BBC Radio 4 Food and Farming Awards. It is the first time that the Market has reached the final of what is regarded as the 'Oscars' of the UK food industry, and comes just weeks after St George's was named 'Best Large Indoor Market' by trade body NABMA.

Council Urges Public To Vote For St George's Market
St George's Market is in the running to be named the best market in the UK, with Belfast City Council urging people to give it their vote. The Market is included in the National Association of British Market Authorities (NABMA) annual 'Britain's Favourite Market' award, and voting is open now.

The popular St George's Market on May Street, Belfast, has been celebrated as the Best Large Indoor Market in Britain. One of the city's oldest attractions, the market originated in the 1890's and has been selected for numerous local and national titles and awards for its fresh, local produce and great atmosphere.

50 Firms Created By Youths To Take Over St George's Market In Belfast
More than 50 businesses started by young people aged between 10 and 25 years old are working with the Belfast City Council at St George's Market on Wednesday 02 December. Young Enterprise Chief Executive Carol Fitzsimons commented: "Each year Young Enterprise supports more than 3,500 young people start businesses across Northern Ireland.
