Concerns Raised Over Firearms Licence Changes

A Sinn Féin MLA has raised concerns over firearms licence changes.

At the end of April it was announced that the application process for a firearms licence will move wholly online by August.

Mr Oliver McMullan said: "This will not suit everyone, particularly those in rural areas where access to reliable broadband can be a problem.

"I would be particularly concerned about the impact this could have on the farming community.

"While there is no doubt that online applications can speed up the process, provision should also be made for those who do not have internet access.

"I will be raising the matter with the PSNI to discuss these concerns."
