Redevelopment Work Complete On Fort In Cookstown
Redevelopment work on a Fort in Cookstown has been completed.
A total of £500,000 was invested in the Tullaghoge Fort which has now been re-opened.
The site was closed for almost a year while development works were carried out to deliver a new car parking area, interpretation and a new path to the monument.
Communities Minister Paul Givan said: "By investing in our infrastructure, my department is already demonstrating the value of the historic environment for local communities and for wider society. This internationally-important monument is a key asset to the tourism economy of Mid Ulster; the enhanced access and resources at the site will enable greater footfall at the monument which, in turn, will result in an economic boost for tourism and local business."
Contractors To Start Work On Armagh Sewerage Improvement Project
Contractors BSG Civil Engineering is to start work on a sewerage improvement project in Co Armagh.
The work on the Newry Road, which is to begin on Saturday 18 June, is part of an ongoing Armagh Sewerage Improvement Scheme, worth around £3 million overall.
Construction work will involve the laying of approximately 2000m of gravity and pumping sewer together with associated manholes.
The first phase of the work is to commence at the Friary Road/ Barrack Street junction, progressing towards Folly Lane until 10 July. The second phase is planned to start on 25 July at Folly Lane progressing towards Cavanacaw Road and is expected to be completed in September 2016.
Diversions will be put in place.
A spokesperson from NI Water said: "We fully appreciate the disruption caused by these works, and NI Water and our contractor, BSG Civil Engineering Ltd, would like to apologise for the inconvenience and thank customers for their continued patience and cooperation as we complete these essential works. We assure you that we will do everything we can to complete the work as quickly as practicably possible."
Alliance Cllr Selected As Deputy Mayor Of Lisburn And Castlereagh
An Alliance Councillor has been selected as the next Deputy Mayor of Lisburn and Castlereagh.
Cllr Stephen Martin has taken up the role and he said he is "delighted".
Mr Martin said: "It is a great honour to have been selected to serve as Deputy Mayor and I look forward to promoting the Alliance Party's vision of a shared society during my term in office.
"Lisburn and Castlereagh is growing and strength and prosperity and I plan on being an extremely effective and positive representative for the Council, reaching out to everyone in the community during my year as Deputy Mayor.
"Over the coming year I hope to build on the strong representation the Alliance Party has been providing for everyone across Lisburn and Castlereagh, with a particular focus on ensuring the borough is open and welcoming for all communities and I'm looking forward to working alongside the new Mayor in achieving this."

Refurb Work Complete At Playing Fields In West Belfast
Refurbishment work has been completed at Woodlands Playing Fields in west Belfast. Belfast City Council teamed up with the GAA and invested a total of £2.1 million. The site now has three full size GAA pitches, including a 3G floodlit pitch. All three pitches can be used for other sports such as soccer and rugby.

Refurbishment work on The Gobbins Cliff Path in Islandmagee is now complete. Enterprise, Trade and Investment Minister, Jonathan Bell, visited the preview event today, 18 August, and said the restoration of the historic coastal path and the development of the new visitor centre will help put the coastline back on the tourist map.

Belfast's Waterfront Hall is to close for up to three months so repairs can be carried out on a faulty stage elevator system. The problem centres on an electronic system which controls the raising, lowering and overall movement of an internal stage.

Two Men Arrested Over Roofing Scam In Newry
Two men have been arrested in Newry who were allegedly involved in a roofing scam. The suspects reportedly offered to carry out roof repairs and guttering services in the Armagh road area and demanded more money when the work was complete. They are believed to have tried to scam a woman, aged in her 90s, out of £700.
