Car Seized And Suspected Firearm Recovered During Strabane Security Alert

A car has been seized and a suspected firearm was recovered during a security alert in Strabane, Co Tyrone.

The alert happened in the Lisnafin Park area on Friday, 17 June.

Residents returned to their homes shortly after 8am on Saturday, 18 June.

During the incident, a 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of endangering the safety of an aircraft when he pointed a laser at a police helicopter. The crew of the helicopter were able to direct officers on the ground to a house where the suspect was arrested.

Following a search of the property a bag of lasers was recovered.

The man has been released on bail and inquiries are ongoing.

Police Investigating Man's Death Following Ballynahinch Collision
The PSNI have launched an investigation into the circumstances leading to the death of an elderly man following a collision in Ballynahinch. Appeal For Information On Serious Assault In Rostrevor
A 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a serious assault in Rostrevor on Sunday, 31 March. At around 9pm, police received a report that man, aged in his 20s, had received serious head injuries after he fell to the ground following an altercation at a licensed premises in the Bridge Street area.
