Graves Destroyed In City Cemetary

Graves have been destroyed in an attack at the city cemetary in Belfast.

SDLP Councillor Brian Tierney condemned the vandalism.

He said: "Our city cemetery is a place where people come to pray and pay their solemn and personal respects to loved ones who have been lost. Sadly, this is not the first time this has happened, but it must be the last.

"The scenes of destruction are appalling, and I will continue my work with council officials to ensure that this site is protected from this vandalism. There will be an immediate step up in security, while we find a long term solution to this issue.

"I would encourage anyone with any information about these vicious attacks to contact the police."
