JTI Announce £5m Job Creation Fund In Co Antrim

Following the closure of its Ballymena production facility in 2017, tobacco firm JTI has said it will establish a £5 million fund to boost job creation in the area.

JTI is to close its Co Antrim production facility next year with the loss of 800 jobs.

It is understood that a board will be established to distribute the fund, which will see around £300,000 invested each year for 20 years, to be chaired by local MP Ian Paisley and include local business and trade union representatives.

News of the support fund was first reported by the Ballymena Guardian.
