Funding Approved For Market Tunnels Scheme In Belfast

Funding for the Markets Tunnels scheme in Belfast has been approved.

A total of £1.3 million has been secured to convert the old arches at East Bridge Street into business units including a gym, a childcare facility and social spaces.

Sinn Féın Councillor Deirdre Hargey welcomed the announcement and said it will have a transformative effect linking the Market area with the city centre.

She said: "A lot of hard work has surrounded the development of this innovative and exciting project.

"It has borne fruit with today's announcement by the Executive Office and I’d like to pay tribute to all those involved."
