Man Convicted Of Benefit Fraud

A man has been convicted for claiming benefits he was not entitled to at Banbridge Magistrates' Court.

Ian Fulton claimed Income Support and Carers Allowance totalling £6,636 while failing to declare employment. He was given a two-year conditional discharge.

He is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Department for Communities.

Final Connections And Commissioning Work On New Pumping Station To Begin

NI Water and its contractor BSG Civil Engineering is to start the final connections and commissioning work on a new pumping station in Ballymartin, Co Down.

The facility, at Annalong Road in Blackrock, is part of a £1.2 million investment by Irish Water.

The work includes the laying of new pipelines between Blackrock and Ballymartin. The overall scheme will collect wastewater from the Blackrock and Ballymartin areas and transfer it to Kilkeel for treatment. The new infrastructure will bring about environmental benefits in the area and will accommodate future development in the village for the next 20 years.

To facilitate the work temporary lane closures will be implemented with automated traffic lights on a short section of the Annalong Road around the location of the new pumping station.

A lane closure will be in place from Monday, 12 September until Friday, 17 September for pipeline connections. A further short lane closure will be sought at a later date to allow the electrical contractor to complete work at the pumping station.

Investigation Launched After Sudden Death On Railway Line In L'Derry

Police have launched an investigation after the sudden death of a person on a railway line in Co L'Derry.

The incident happened near Caw Park this morning, 06 September.

The line is expected to be closed for some time, according to the police.

Bus routes are operating and NIR tickets will be accepted.

No further details have been released.

£3.1m Investment In North Down Water

Northern Ireland Water has been fined £2,000 after pleading guilty to a pollution offence at Rockvale Wastewater Pumping Station. The company was also ordered to pay a £15 Offender Levy for allowing a polluting discharge to enter a waterway from Rockvale.

£14m To Improve Water Infrastructure
An investment package of £14m is to be spent on improving the security of the water supply infrastructure, it has been announced. The works will be carried out on the Castor Bay to Belfast Water Trunk Main and will involve laying 29km of water pipeline from the Castor Bay Water Treatment Works to south Lisburn.
