Bethany Firth Wins Third Paralympic Medal

Co Down swimmer Bethany Firth has won a silver medal in the S14 100m breaststroke at the Rio Paralympics.

Michelle Morales from Spain won by .27 seconds.

The Seaforde swimmer has already won two gold medals.

The 20-year-old will take part in the 200m Individual Medley on Sunday, 18 September.

Police Investigating Man's Death Following Ballynahinch Collision
The PSNI have launched an investigation into the circumstances leading to the death of an elderly man following a collision in Ballynahinch. It it understood that police were called at approximately 4.10pm on Monday 08 April, to reports of the "sudden death"of an elderly man at a quarry in the Newcastle Road area of Seaforde.

PSNI Reveals Figures On Mass Speeding Operation
New figures from the PSNI show the number of drivers caught speeding in one day in Northern Ireland as part of a major operation. Police carried out vehicle check points, speed checks and proactively patrolling as part of a Service Wide proactive Roads Policing Operation focusing on speeding (OP Lifesaver) and pedestrian safety (Op Safer steps).

Thousands Of Public Sector Workers Begin Strike Action
Northern Ireland's largest strike in around 50 years has gotten underway today, 18 January. Around 170,000 public sector workers are taking part in the industrial action. Members from over 15 unions including health, education and transport workers are taking part in the day of mass industrial action.

38,000 Expected To Support Big Spring Clean Initiative
Live Here Love Here, Northern Ireland's community and civic pride campaign, has announced the return of the region's largest volunteer clean-up campaign, Big Spring Clean, which saw over 38,000 volunteers take part in diverse clean-up activities in 2023.
