Hong Kong airport commends CEM's airport solutions
Recently voted the ‘Worlds Best Airport for 2003’, Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) has presented a certificate of special recognition to CEM Systems, a business unit of Tyco Fire & Security based in Belfast, for its contributions and commitment to the airport.
HKIA topped the polls in the Skytrax Airport of the Year Survey, believed to be the world's most extensive airport survey of airline passengers with almost two million passenger nominations received.
As a major aviation hub in the region, HKIA currently has a handling capacity of 45 million passengers per annum, channelling them through 288 check-in desks and 75 flight gates operating round-the-clock. In the background, a CEM security system is helping protect these passengers.
“Security for passengers and staff at such a large complex is a daunting task,” said Andrew Fulton, Business Development Director at CEM Systems. “CEM is proud to have provided the airport with a customised access control solution that not only provides advanced security but also helps the airport operate more efficiently.”
CEM supplied a fully integrated access control security system that handles over 30,000 cardholders with some 1,800 access points.

Cardiff International Airport takes off with CEM
CEM Systems have supplied an integrated access control and badge production system to Cardiff International Airport in Wales after being awarded the contract by main security contractors, Beacon Security. The Access 2000 system will include more than 50 InfoProx readers to control movement within the airport.

Belfast firm ‘secures’ 93% of UK airport passengers
Belfast firm smoothes the secure operation of security for over 90% of the UK’s airport passengers. With installations at almost all UK airports, including all of the ten largest airports, it is estimated that the CEM AC2000 Airport Edition system helps protect 93% of all UK terminal passengers daily.

CEM Systems wins Government contract to supply access security
Belfast-based firm CEM Systems has won a contract to supply the access security for a highly sensitive Government site in the UK. The two-stage project includes the installation of CEM’s webEntry system as a short-term solution to secure the site during major refurbishment work, after which CEM’s AC2000 SE monitoring system will be installed.

Belfast City Airport extends welcome to bmi flights
Belfast City Airport have welcomed the decision by bmi (British Midland) to relocate its operations from Belfast International Airport to Belfast City Airport. The move by bmi will provide passengers with a service from the heart of Belfast to London Heathrow and East Midlands Airport.
