UUP launch 'Key Deliverables' plan for local government
The Ulster Unionist Party has launched five 'Key Deliverables' it believes can create a substantial number of jobs as well as underpinning local economic prosperity once power is restored to local government.
The policy areas, which were launched today by David Trimble, Sir Reg Empey, Dermot Nesbitt and Michael McGimpsey, were described as being "a multi-million pound boost for Northern Ireland" once the Assembly elections are decided.
The UUP's five 'deliverables' are:
"The prospect of a better future could be lost if people don’t vote. Only Ulster Unionists can deliver what this entire community needs," the statement added.

- An integrated primary healthcare centre in every major population area;
- Replacing all mobile classrooms with permanent accommodation within five years;
- Dualling of key routes – Belfast to Coleraine, Enniskillen, Larne, Londonderry and Newry;
- A radical, pro-active community relations policy to focused on sectarian interface areas;
- The promotion of a national sports stadium.
"The prospect of a better future could be lost if people don’t vote. Only Ulster Unionists can deliver what this entire community needs," the statement added.

Five new cases of coronavirus have been detected in Northern Ireland. The Public Health Agency confirmed the further spread of the flu-like virus on Sunday, bringing the total number of cases in the region to 12. The search is on to trace people who have been in contact with the latest cases.

15 Councils To Benefit From Dereliction Fund
The Department of Environment (DoE) have allocated £1.5 million to be shared between fifteen councils to help tackle dereliction in their areas. It is claimed that the money will help improve the environment while boosting local trade and tourism.

Arrests Over £300k Drugs Seized Last Year
Two men have been arrested in County Tyrone following the seizure of suspected cocaine worth around £300,000 last year. The drugs were originally discovered in the Lisaclare Road area of Stewartstown in October 2018. Two men, aged 26 and 24 were arrested in the Omagh and Cookstown areas today, Thursday 06 June. Both remain in custody.

PSNI Issue Warning Over HMRC Fraud Scams
Police in L'Derry have issued a warning to the public after receiving several complaints in relation to HMRC fraud scams. Fraudsters are targeting older and vulnerable people demanding money and some victims are being threatened with arrest if they do not pay.
