Teenager Arrested On Suspicion Of Aggravated Burglary

A 19-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary in north Belfast.

An elderly man alerted police that an intruder was breaking in to his neighbours house.

The PSNI attended the scene and caught the suspect, however he had attacked the 80-year-old man and hit him on the head with a spade.

The victim received hospital treatment and his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police would thank to thank this eagle eyed member of the community whose fast actions resulted in the apprehension of the would be burglar.

"Please look out for your elderly neighbours like this good neighbour did to prevent these incidents happening in your area."

Scam Warning Issued Following Taylor Swift Ticket Fraud
The PSNI in Derry City & Strabane have warned people to be wary of scammers following a report this week of a person who thought they'd bought tickets online for a Taylor Swift concert only to find out they'd been swindled. According to police, it was reported that a person had found tickets for the concert on an online platform.

Appeal For Witnesses Following Stabbing In Portadown
A 27-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing incident in Portadown on Wednesday, 01 May. At 3.25pm yesterday, police received a report that a man with a knife had been seen in the Portmore Street area.

Missing Man Found 'Safe And Well'
Missing man Declan Mawhinney has been found safe and well, according to the police. Mr Mawhinney, 46, went missing from Letterkenny on Saturday at approximately 11.40pm. A missing person appeal was launched by the police and his family. He was located in Letterkenny on Tuesday. Police thank the public for their assistance.
