Two Men Arrested Following Arson Attack In Co Down

Two men, aged 38 and 40, have been arrested in connection with an arson attack in Newtownards, Co Down.

The attack happened at a property in the Glenard Road area at around 1.25am on Tuesday, 29 November.

Flammable liquid was poured through the letterbox and set alight.

An elderly woman was forced to put out the blaze which caused damage to the door.

Alliance Strangford MLA Kellie Armstrong has said someone could have been killed.

She said: "It is extremely lucky nobody was killed in this arson attack. I question the mind-set of those behind this incident - what possess them to start such a dangerous fire and put lives at risk?

"We must ensure those behind this despicable incident are brought to justice. If anybody has any information about this attack, then I urge them to contact the police."

Two Men Arrested In £500,000 Drug Seiure In South Belfast
Two men have been arrested in connection with a £500,000 drug seizure following searches in South Belfast. On Friday, 01 March, detectives from the PSNI's Organised Crime Branch stopped and searched two vehicles in the Lisburn Road area. Class B controlled drugs were recovered from both vehicles which were also subsequently seized.

Four Men Sentenced Over Co Antrim ATM Thefts
Four men have been sentenced in connection with a series of ATM thefts in the County Antrim area over four years ago. The investigation related to a number of ATM thefts between 27th October 2018 and 6th December 2019, including the theft of two cash machines at a supermarket on Castle Way in Antrim.

Four Charged In Connection With Blake Newland Murder
Four people are due to appear before Ballymena Magistrates' Court charged in connection with the murder of 17-year-old Blake Newland. The Limavady teenager died after being found with serious stab wounds at a house in the town on Friday, 02 February. Detectives investigating the murder, have now charged two men, aged 27 and 29, with murder.

Man Arrested In Connection With Ballymena Drug Seizure
A man has been arrested and suspected Class A and B drugs worth an estimated £90,000 seized in a Paramilitary Crime Task Force operation in Ballymena on Saturday, 10 February.
