Woman's Car Hijacked In South Belfast

A woman has escaped injury after being hijacked in south Belfast.

The incident happened in the School Road area at around 7.50am on Tuesday, 10 January.

A man approached the woman, who was in her car, and ordered her to get out.

He made off in the vehicle, a red Hyundai i30, in the direction of the Newtownbreda Road.

The car was later found parked in the St James's Road area in west Belfast.

The hijacker has been described as aged in his late 20s, around 5ft 5inches tall and of stocky build. He was wearing a peaked cap, had a scarf over his face and was wearing navy clothing.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Attack On North Belfast Home Treated As Hate Crime
Police are treating an attack on a house in north Belfast as a hate crime. Masked men smashed the windows at the front of a property in the Crumlin Road area just after midnight on Wednesday. A man and woman have been mugged in south Belfast. The man was punched and the woman was threatened at knifepoint in the Malone Road area on Thursday at approximately 7.30pm. A man approached the pair and punched the other man to the ground, threatened the woman with a knife and demanded money.

A man, allegedly armed with a hatchet, has been arrested following an altercation in west Belfast. The incident happened in the Grosvenor Road area just after midnight. The 20-year-old man stole a necklace and a bracelet during a confrontation with two people, according to the police. A car window was also smashed in the incident.

Woman Killed In Fatal Carrickfergus Road Crash
The PSNI have reported the death of a woman in a car crash in Carrickfergus, Co Antrim. It is understood that the woman, aged in her 50s, died when two cars collided on the Belfast Road at about 20:00 on Wednesday. Two men were also injured in the collision and are being treated in hospital. Their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
