Three Charged With Attempted Murder After Serious Assault In Co Antrim

Three men have been charged with attempted murder following a serious assault in Carrickfergus, Co Antrim.

A man is in a serious condition in hospital after being attacked at the Royal Oak Bar in Green Street at around 9.40pm on Saturday, 11 March.

Three men, aged 36, 50 and 52, are to appear at Belfast Magistrates' Court on Monday, 13 March.

Alliance MLA Stewart Dickson said: "I must condemn this horrifying attack which has left the victim with serious head injuries.

"The extent of the injuries indicates this was a brutal attack, made all the more chilling as the victim was simply carrying out his duties on a Saturday night as an employee of a popular local bar.

"My thoughts are with the victim, his family and wider circle and I hope we hear positive news on his condition in the hours and days to come.

"I urge anyone with information to contact the PSNI as soon as possible so a full, clear picture of what occurred can be established."
