Man Arrested In Human Trafficking Investigation

A man has been arrested as part of an investigation into human trafficking in south Belfast.

Police received a report of a woman being beaten outside a property in the area on Tuesday, 25 April.

A 36-year-old Eastern European woman and is currently being assessed as a potential victim of human trafficking.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Bell said: "Our enquiries led us to arrest a 38-year-old man a short time later on suspicion of a number of offences including human trafficking for sexual exploitation, rape and sexual assault.

"These enquiries, including a search of a property in the area are continuing as we work with partner agencies to ensure the woman receives appropriate support and assistance."

The 38-year-old suspect has been detained in custody.

Man Injured In Craigavon Explosion
An investigation has been launched following an explosion in Craigavon. According to reports a man is being treated in hospital for injuries to his hands and chest after a device is said to have "partially exploded". A number of homes were evacuated in the Enniskeen area on Tuesday evening while army bomb experts investigated the scene.

Man Stabbed During Attack In East Belfast
A man, aged in his 40's, has been stabbed during an attack in east Belfast. The victim was chased by a number of men from the Killagan Bend in the Cregagh area area, heading towards the Greenway just after 11 pm on Monday, 03 May. He was stabbed in the back and the head. The victim remains in a stable condition in hospital.

Man Arrested Over Human Trafficking Offences
A man has been arrested in connection with the trafficking of a number of people in south Armagh. The man has been detained on suspicion of Human Trafficking for Securing Services between 01 January and 17 July 2015, a number of fraud offences, money laundering and gangmaster offences.

Four Due In Court On Human Trafficking Charges
Four people are due to appear before Belfast Magistrates Court today charged in relation to human trafficking, following raids on suspected brothels last week. A 21-year-old woman and two men, aged 33 and 46, have been charged with trafficking for sexual exploitation, controlling prostitution, brothel keeping and money laundering.
