Ulster Bank To Introduce New £5 And £10 Notes

The Ulster Bank is to introduce new plastic £5 and £10 notes in Northern Ireland in 2019.

Production is to begin later this year and designs are to be unveiled in the coming months, according to the bank.

Lita Notte from the Ulster Bank said: "We will be delighted to issue new banknotes, which are an important part of our business heritage and the economy of Northern Ireland.

"Our theme Living In Nature will showcase the creativity, passion and interests of people right across Northern Ireland.

"They are a unique demonstration of what matters to those who live and work here in Northern Ireland."

Queen's Festival Announces New Director
The Belfast festival at Queen's has announced arts programmer and producer Richard Wakely as its new director. Mr Wakely is a former Managing Director of the Abbey Theatre in Dublin, while his role as Commissioner for the China-Ireland Cultural Exchange Programme for the Irish government saw him tour throughout Europe, the UK and South America.

Northern Bank Becomes Danske
Today the Northern Bank officially becomes Danske Bank. The new name comes from the bank’s Danish parent and will see branches across Ireland, Norway, Finland, Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania adopt the new title.

New NI Bank Notes In Circulation
New bank notes have been released into circulation in Northern Ireland. The £10 and £20 notes are being issued from Danske Bank and will gradually replace the existing Northern Bank notes. The design of the notes remains the same, the only difference is the Danske Bank logo has replaced the Northern Bank logo.

Ulster Bank Grows Farm Lending
Farmers and food processors are set to benefit from a large share of an important new £300m 'lending pot' for Northern Ireland. Ulster Bank's Head of Business Banking, Henry Elvin, said that agri-food is one of the sectors the bank is most strongly targeting with money available through its fund for small to medium sized enterprises.

Business Declining: Ulster Bank
NI's Economic prospects are still stagnating, with construction still being hardest hit. According to new figures just produced, Northern Ireland remains the only region within the UK not to experience an upturn in business activity last month.
