Funeral Held For Dean McIlwaine

The funeral for Dean McIlwaine has been held in Carnmoney.

Mr McIlwaine (22) went missing on Thursday, 13 July and a number of large scale search operations were carried across the city.

His body was found by searchers on Cavehill on Saturday, 22 July.

According to reports, hundreds of people turned out for the funeral service held today, 27 July at Carnmoney Presbyterian church, before Mr McIlwaine was laid to rest at Carnmoney Cemetery.

The PSNI are conducting a search for a missing person in the Downpatrick area of County Down, with the help of the Irish Coast Guard. The Dublin based Coast Guard Helicopter R116 is assisting the operation, following a request this morning from the UK Maritime Coastguard Agency.

Police investigating a bomb attack in L'Derry on Saturday 19 have seized a suspected firearm during a follow up search in the city. It was discovered on Wednesday evening in the Brandywell area. A spokesperson said: "The recovery of this item will require a public safety operation but we will seek to keep this to a minimum to avoid disruption.

A man has been charged after a quantity of drugs and cash were uncovered as part of an ongoing PSNI investigation into the east Belfast UVF. The 30-year-old man was arrested by officers from the Paramilitary Crime Task Force following the search of a house.
