NI Law Firm Welcomes Senior Solicitor Nóirín O'Neill

NI law firm, Paschal O'Hare Solicitors is pleased to welcome senior litigation solicitor and high profile cancer survivor, Nóirín O'Neill in to the team, who recently moved to Belfast from a well-known firm in the Republic of Ireland.

Ms O'Neill, a Trinity College Dublin graduate who is qualified in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland has been warmly welcomed to Belfast and the firm's Medical Negligence team. It is expected that the senior solicitor will make good use of her 16 years of experience at her new firm. Nóirín is Ireland's only solicitor to qualify as an Expert Patient in Medicines Research and Development through European Patients' Academy in Therapeutic Innovation.

Nóirín was diagnosed with a life threatening rare acute form of leukaemia which affects one in a million people in Europe when she was 30 years old. Nóirín had six months of aggressive chemotherapy and is now as good as cured.

As a result of her experience, Nóirín is passionate about helping patients on their journey by representing them legally and investigating treatment and care received by them. Her story has been told at the NI Blood Transfusion Service Gold Badge Awards, the View from the Top Series, the Annual NHS Conference, NI Rare Disease Partnership Conferences and in the British Medical Journal.

Nóirín said: "Negligent mistakes in healthcare settings are often the result of a combination of system failures and human errors. I am of the view that patients are a source of information about failures and gaps in the system and that through litigation and advocacy, visibility of an issue can be raised and action taken in order to prevent future mistakes."

The move follows Paschal O'Hare Solicitors expansion of their Medical Negligence department that has resulted out of increasing demand for the service.

Paschal O'Hare Solicitors' Principal Solicitor, Patrick O'Hare added: "I am delighted to welcome Nóirín to our expanding medical negligence department. She is a very accomplished solicitor who has proven time and time again that she can meet any challenge that she's faced with, personally or professionally."
