Four Convicted Of Benefit Fraud
Four people have been convicted for claiming benefits they were not entitled to at Belfast Magistrates' Court.
Robert Kincaid claimed Housing Benefit totalling £2,915 while failing to declare employment. He was fined £250.
Jarred Morinte claimed Jobseeker's Allowance totalling £2,621 while failing to declare employment. He was given 80 hours community service.
Ryan Strachan claimed Income Support, Carer’s Allowance and Jobseeker’s Allowance totalling £3,520 while failing to declare employment. He was fined £350.
Paul Burns claimed Jobseeker's Allowance and Housing Benefit totalling £3,696 while failing to declare an income. He was fined £300.
All are also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Department for Communities.
Motion For Debate Submitted Over Enniskillen Bomb Comments
Ulster Unionists on Fermanagh & Omagh Council have submitted a motion for debate in relation to recent comments made by the Council Chairman regarding the Enniskillen bomb.
It calls for Councillor McCann to retract his comments and if he fails to do so, for Michelle O'Neill to have Councillor McCann replaced as Council Chairman.
Councillor Howard Thornton said: "There is much anger within the wider Fermanagh & Omagh community that the Council Chairman - who is of course expected to represent everyone - not only refused to condemn the 1987 IRA bomb in Enniskillen, which murdered 11 people and injured over 60, but also praised the ruthless IRA terrorist Seamus McElwaine.
"It is unacceptable for the First Citizen of the District to so blatantly ignore the deep hurt and feelings of a very large section of residents of the area, most importantly those victims who have suffered due to the indiscriminate Enniskillen bomb and the terrorist actions of McElwaine."
Work To Start On Resurfacing Scheme In Bangor
Construction work is to start on a £250,000 road improvement project in Bangor, Co Down.
The work, on the Rathgael Road, is to begin on Saturday, 12 August.
The resurfacing scheme, which incorporates embankment sidefilling, will improve the strength and surface quality of the carriageway on a 550 metre section of this important C class link road on the outskirts of Bangor.
Resurfacing will be carried out over the following weekends with a full road closure in place:
• 12-13 August
• 19-20 August
• 02-03 September
• 09-10 September
From 14 August for four weeks, a one-way mid-week road closure will operate, permitting access from the A2 Belfast Road towards Rathgael Road Roundabout. Traffic seeking access to the A2 from Rathgael Road will be diverted via the Clandeboye Road, A2 West Circular Road.
Local access will be maintained and diversions will be put in place during the works.

Economy Minister Launches Latest All Ireland Scholarships Scheme
Minister for the Economy, Conor Murphy, has announced the launch of the latest All Ireland Scholarships Scheme for students in Northern Ireland. The value of each scholarship is £5,500 per annum for the duration of their undergraduate programme. The All Ireland Scholarships were established in 2008 by JP McManus.
