Security Alert In Newtownabbey Ends

A security alert in Newtownabbey has ended.

A number of residents had to be evacuated from their homes in the Mayfield Village area on Thursday, 07 September, after a suspicious object was found.

Police and army bomb disposal experts attended the scene and an object has been taken away for forensic examination.

Inspector Peter Duncan said: "I want to thank local people and the wider community for their patience and understanding throughout the operation, which was necessary to ensure the safety of local residents, and those travelling in and around the area."

Suspicious Object Found In North Belfast
A security alert is underway in north Belfast following the discovery of a suspicious object. The object was found in the Antrim Road area on Monday, 06 November. The road has been closed in both directions at its junction with the New Lodge Road and Carlisle Circus. Police are currently at the scene and diversions have been put in place.

Suspicious Object Found In Co Antrim Declared A Hoax
A suspicious object found in Co Antrim has been declared a hoax. The Mill Road in Newtownabbey has been reopened. Elsewhere, a suspicious object discovered on the Lisburn Road in south Belfast was also declared a hoax. The road reopened at around 4.20am on Wednesday, 13 July. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Security Alert Underway In Belfast
A security alert is currently underway in Belfast. It is understood there have been reports of a suspicious object found in the Tates Avenue area of the city. As a result, the road has been closed between Boucher Road roundabout and Lorne Street. Police and army bomb experts are in attendance at the scene. No other details have been released.
