Car Damaged In Larne Arson Attack

A car has been damaged in an arson attack in Larne.

The incident happened in the Ardclinis Gardens area just after 1am on Wednesday, 13 September.

The window of a Ford Focus was smashed and flammable liquid was poured inside the vehicle.

The car was set on fire and significant damage was caused.

Detective Chief Inspector Dunny McCubbin said: "I would ask anyone with any information about this incident to contact detectives in Larne on 101 quoting reference number 31 13/09/17 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."

Sinn Féin’s Oliver McMullan said: "The attack on this car last night is further evidence that loyalist groups have the community living in fear.

"I welcome assurances from the Local Area Commander that investigations into these gangs are ongoing.

"What we need to see is a full crack down on criminal activities of the loyalist groupings in Larne such as drugs, money laundering, loan sharking and intimidation is needed in order to bring this crime wave to an end.”"
