NI Reach 20th Position In FIFA World Rankings

Northern Ireland are at their highest position in the FIFA World Rankings.

The team have risen to 20th position in the world after they beat San Marino and the Czech Republic earlier this month.

They have pushed up two places ahead of Sweden, Iceland and Costa Rica.

Northern Ireland's next opponents, Germany, have moved back to the top of the list following their recent victories over Czech Republic and Norway.

Wales are the highest ranked of the home nations in 13th, two places ahead of England in 15th.  The Republic of Ireland have dropped to 34th in the world with Scotland in 43rd.

Economy Minister, Conor Murphy, has welcomed a recorded increase in the number of visitors to NI from the Republic of Ireland. The latest visitor statistics from the Central Statistics Office (CSO), show a very strong performance on trips, nights and spend by Republic of Ireland residents in Northern Ireland in the first nine months of 2023.
