Viable Pipe Bomb Found During West Belfast Security Alert
A viable pipe bomb has been discovered during a security alert in west Belfast.
Residents had to be evacuated from their homes in the Horn Drive area after a suspicious object was found on Monday, 25 September.
Police and army bomb disposal experts attended the scene.
The alert has now ended and the device has been removed for forensic examination.
PSNI Detective Sergeant Kelly said: "This device was initially discovered by a member of the public and, during the security operation, a number of residents had to be evacuated from their homes for their own safety.
"We would like to thank them for their assistance during this. Those responsible have shown a complete disregard for the safety of residents in this community."

The PSNI have carried out vehicle check points, speed checks and proactive patrolling in a road safety operation in L'Derry on Tuesday, 26 March. Local Response Policing Team (LPT) officers conducted high visibility checkpoints and patrols in areas including Eglinton, in the Waterside and Cityside.

The PSNI have conducted a proactive road safety operation in Strabane on Wednesday, 20 March, conducting vehicle check points and speed checks. Officers conducted high visibility checkpoints and patrols in areas including Sion Mills, Artigarvan, Lifford Bridge and Newtownstewart bypass.

PSNI Reveals Figures On Mass Speeding Operation
New figures from the PSNI show the number of drivers caught speeding in one day in Northern Ireland as part of a major operation. Police carried out vehicle check points, speed checks and proactively patrolling as part of a Service Wide proactive Roads Policing Operation focusing on speeding (OP Lifesaver) and pedestrian safety (Op Safer steps).
