Man Arrested After Police Car Chase In West Belfast

A man has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after a police car chase in west Belfast.

The PSNI saw a red Volkswagen driving in the Beechmount area with no lights on.

They signalled for the vehicle to stop, however a pursuit commenced onto the Falls Road where it was stung by other officers from the auto crime team.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "As a result an adult male was arrested for drink driving among other traffic offences and the vehicle is away to be crushed.

"Through quick actions this incident was brought to a swift, and safe, conclusion and resulted in a seriously dangerous driver being removed from the streets of West Belfast."

Police question man over West Belfast attack
A 31-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an assault in the Lenadoon area of West Belfast. The incident took place on January 28, and the victim was left with serious head injuries. Youths attack police in west Belfast
Police are appealing for information after officers were attack by around 100 youths in west Belfast yesterday evening. The incident occurred in the Albert Street area of the Falls Road at around 6.30pm following reports of dangerous driving. When officers arrived a gang of around 70 youths began throwing stones and other missiles at police.

Two men have been arrested after a car chase in west Belfast on Tuesday. Police reported that a patrol car gave chase after a blue BMW failed to stop at a check point on Lanark Way on Tuesday afternoon.

Shake-up For Learner Drivers In The Pipeline
The Environment Minister has tabled plans that amount to a radical shake-up of the rules for learner drivers. Teenagers could be able to get behind the wheel at the age of 16-and-a-half, and the 45mph speed limit for new drivers could be scrapped.
