Investigation Launched After Man Shot In Newry

Police have launched an investigation after a man was shot in Newry.

The man, aged in his 50s, was shot in the hip at a house in the Drumgullion area at around 8.15pm on Tuesday, 24 October.

The man was taken to hospital and his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Police described the assault as a "callous and brazen attack".

A PSNI spokesperson said: "A Grey Peugeot 206 was reported on fire a short distance away in Violet Hill Avenue, just after the shooting occurred. Police are investigating if the vehicle is linked to the incident."

The PSNI are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.

Sinn Féin MP Mickey Brady said: "I utterly condemn this disgraceful attack.

"There can be no place for these brutal actions in our society.

"This is an attack on the whole community in Newry and I would encourage anyone with information to bring it forward to the police."

Man Shot In County Down
A 28-year-old man has been shot in the leg in a gun attack in County Down. The man was getting out of his car at the Quays in Killyleagh at about 1.00am on Wednesday morning when a man approached him and shot him. The man is recovering in hospital where his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Police have launched a murder investigation after a man was shot dead in west Belfast. The attack happened at a house in Glenwood Court, Poleglass, at around 8.15pm on Thursday, 20 October. He has been named locally as Joe Reilly, aged 43.

A man shot dead in West Belfast on Saturday 18 December has been named as 31-year-old Mark Hall. According to police, two gunmen approached Mr Hall's family home on Rodney Drive shortly after 4:30pm.
