Pensioner Attacked And Robbed In Co Down

A pensioner has been attacked and robbed in Co Down.

Three men confronted the 65-year-old man at his home on the Rowantree Road in Dromore at around 9.15pm on Tuesday, 24 October.

They kicked him in the stomach and groin. They also demanded him to open his safe and stole a silver Rolex watch. The victim was then locked inside the bathroom.

17 ornamental figures were also taken, understood to be a mixture of Coalport and Royal Doulton.

The man climbed out of the bathroom window and raised the alarm.

He was taken to hospital to be treated.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

22-Year-Old Man Jailed For Rape At Laganside Crown Court
A 22-year-old man has been sentenced to six years for rape at Laganside Crown Court. Ahmad Alsbaihi was sentenced to six years. He will serve three years in custody and three years on licence. Homes Evacuated In Co Tyrone And Co Down
Homes have been evacuated in two separate security alerts in County Tyrone and County Down today, 19 January. In the first security alert, a suspicious object was found at at a house on the Gortgonis Road in Coalisland. A number of nearby houses have been evacuated and the public asked to avoid the area at this time.

The PSNI have welcomed a two-year Stalking Protection Order (SPO) handed down to a 46-year-old Belfast man at Belfast Magistrates Court. The man had been found guilty of stalking and harassing his 50-year-old female ex-partner.

Man Jailed For Manslaughter Of David James Conville
A 31-year-old man has been jailed at Belfast Crown Court for the manslaughter of David James Conville in south Belfast in May, 2022. Edward Kelly was sentenced to serve three-and-a-half years, half of his sentence will be served in custody and half will be served on licence, following his guilty plea last November.
