Belfast pair charged following Manchester drugs swoop
The wife and son of loyalist paramilitary leader Johnny Adair are among six people arrested by police investigating drugs crimes in Greater Manchester.
Police swooped on a number of houses in the Manchester and Lancashire areas on Tuesday morning as part of 'Operation Margate'. It is reported that all the suspects have been charged in relation to conspiracy to supply class A drugs including heroin, cocaine and crack cocaine.
Gina Adair, 37, and Jonathan Adair, 19, arrested on Tuesday are expected to appear before magistrates in Bolton.
The wife and son of the jailed paramilitary leader arrived in the Greater Manchester area earlier this year as they fled a feud between loyalist factions in Belfast.

Man Arrested After Using Van To Attack Police Officers
The PSNI has condemned an incident in which a man used a van to repeatedly ram a police patrol car and attempted to run over an officer in Newry on Saturday, 03 February. Shortly after 11:20pm, officers on patrol approached a man standing beside a white Peugeot van in the Castlekeele Estate area.

A 39-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a shooting incident in Banbridge on Friday 12 April. Detectives investigating the shooting incident carried out a search of two properties in the Mullaghbawn and Banbridge areas on Wednesday, 17 April.

Man Arrested For Headbutting Female Police Officer
A 22-year-old man has been arrested in Newry for assaulting a police officer. While responding to a domestic related report, a local female officer was headbutted to the head, which caused swelling and bruising. The officer was seen by medical staff and her injuries were not more serious and she felt well enough to remain on duty.

Johnny Adair freed from jail
Former loyalist leader Johnny Adair has been released from prison and flown to England. Mr Adair was taken to RAF Aldergrove on Monday and flown by helicopter to Manchester despite not being due for release until Thursday.

A 44-year-old man has been sentenced to a total of 12 years for offences linked to EncroChat – an encrypted communication channel used by criminals. Michael O'Loughlin was arrested in 2020 following the search of a property as part of Operation Venetic, a UK wide operation by the National Crime Agency (NCA) designed to "dismantle EncroChat".
