Union Signs Deal To Represent Aerospace Workers Near Macclesfield

Unite the union has signed a new deal giving hundreds of workers at an aerospace manufacturing company near Macclesfield the right to be represented by a trade union.

Unite will be attending a factory briefing for all the workers at Senior Aerospace BWT on Thursday 30 November about the union and BWT working together. This agreement recognises working together with the aim of securing future work and jobs.

Last week, Unite's regional officer Phil Allman and Darren Butterworth the chief executive officer of Senior Aerospace BWT signed a recognition deal which gives workers the right to negotiate collectively with management on the site.

Six union representatives have been elected and will be receiving training for new Unite union representatives in the near future, to give them new skills to represent Unite members at BWT.

Phil Allman, Unite regional officer said: "Trade union representation at this aerospace company in Macclesfield is good news for the workers. Unite and BWT have now signed a collective agreement and there’s a feel good factor on the factory floor.

"The union will be negotiating pay, hours and holidays going forward but in a world where technology is rapidly changing Unite will also be on hand to represent workers when it comes to training and skills' development."
