Officers Arrested In Connection With Prescription Drugs Probe

Two police officers have been arrested as part of an investigation into a number of potential offences.

The offences included theft and distribution of prescription drugs.

The officers were detained by Police Ombudsman investigators on Thursday morning, 07 December.

They were arrested at police stations in Co Antrim.

Drugs Seized & One Arrested After Car Chase
Police have released details of an incident on Sunday 31 March which resulted in a member of the public being injured, one person arrested and suspected drugs seized. The situation arose when officers from the PSNI's Auto Crime Team spotted a suspicious looking vehicle travelling along Divis Street in west Belfast.

She is understood to have been found in the Falls Road area on Sunday 07 April. A post-mortem examination was carried out and police are awaiting a toxicology report.

Seven Police Officers Disciplined Over Pensioner's Death
Seven police officers have been disciplined over an investigation into the death of Lisburn man Jim Heasley in October 2010. The 70-year-old was assaulted as he walked home from Lagan Valley Pigeon Club. An investigation by the Police Ombudsman found a series of failings in the initial police response.

PSNI Cuts Uproar
An already financially beleaguered police service is facing fresh cutbacks. As a result, the Northern Ireland Policing Board is to challenge the Government over proposed £17m cuts in the police service budget. Members are expected to hold a crunch meeting with the NIO Security Minister, it has been announced.
