Ice Warning Issued In NI

A yellow weather warning for ice has once again been issued throughout Northern Ireland.

The warning has been put in place from 5pm on Friday, 15 December, until 11am on Saturday, 15 December.

However, the extent of the ice is expected to be less than the last few days.

A Met Office spokesperson said: "The cold, showery weather will finally begin to lose its grip as we move into the weekend. However before this happens there is scope for some ice affecting areas where wintry showers continue to fall, or where there is existing partly melted snow cover."

The public and motorists have been advised to take extra care.

The PSNI have attended a number of drug related incidents on public transport during the first month of an 'innovative initiative' in conjunction with Translink. NI's Winter Services 'Ready For Action'
The Department for Infrastructure's winter service is ready to take action if the weather impacts NI's roads, Infrastructure Minister Nichola Mallon. Approximately 300 staff, 130 gritters and 12 specialist snow blowers are available to salt the 7,000 kilometres of the road network on the salting schedule.

Further Weather Warning Issued
A new weather warning has been issued for Northern Ireland. On Tuesday, the Met Office issued a fresh warning for snow in the region. It said rain and sleet can be expected with snow on higher ground. The 'yellow' alert will be in place from 5pm today (20 January).

Yellow Weather Warning For Snow And Ice Across NI
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow and ice across Northern Ireland on Thursday evening. The alert comes into effect from 7pm on Thursday until 3pm on Friday. Motorists are being urged to take care on the roads as driving conditions may be difficult.
