PSNI Investigating Attempted Murder In Co Tyrone Seize Car In Dublin

Police investigating the attempted murder of a pensioner in Co Tyrone have carried out searches in the Republic of Ireland and recovered a suspect car.

An 83-year-old woman was critically injured when she fell from a window during a burglary at her home in Aughnacloy on Tuesday, 23 January.

PSNI officers searched two properties in the Tallaght area of Dublin on Thursday, 01 February.

Detective Chief Inspector John Caldwell said: "The investigation is ongoing into this horrific incident and we are following a number of lines of enquiry connected to the attempted murder and the three other burglaries in the Aughnacloy, Ballygawley and Seskinore areas, which we believed are linked.

"Today (Thursday, February 1) detectives, assisted our colleagues in An Garda Siochana, who conducted two searches of properties in the Tallaght area of Dublin. A number of items have been seized for further examination.

"On Friday evening the black Saab vehicle, which we believe was used by the suspects during the burglaries, was recovered in Dundalk.

"We are continuing to investigate this appalling incident in which the vulnerable 83-year-old woman sustained serious injuries as well as the other burglaries which we believe are linked.

"We have made good progress and I would like to thank members of the public who have come forward to police with information – you have made a difference."

The PSNI are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Man Attacked With Iron Bars During Aggravated Burglary
A man has been injured after being attacked with iron bars at his home in County Antrim in the early hours of Tuesday morning. The aggravated burglary occurred in the Ballyvannon Road area in Glenavy shortly after 4am. The victim needed to be treated in hospital, however his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
