Unemployment Rate Drops In NI

The unemployment rate in Northern Ireland has dropped to 3.9%.

The rate now stands below the UK average which is 4.4%, according to data released by the Northern Ireland Statistics Research Agency (NISRA).

The number of people claiming job seekers allowance also fell by 700.

Unemployment Continues To Fall
The Northern Ireland unemployment rate continues to fall, according to the latest Labour market figures from the Northern Ireland Statistics & Research Agency (NISRA). Unemployment was estimated at 7.3% for the period July - September 2013, indicating a 0.2% fall from the previous quarter and a 0.4% drop from a year ago.

NI Unemployment Falls
Unemployment in Northern Ireland is falling, according to the latest Labour Force Survey (LFS). The unemployment rate was estimated at 7.8% for the period February - April 2013. This shows a fall of 0.6% from the rate recorded in the previous quarter (8.5%) and a rise of 0.7% from the rate recorded one year ago (7.1%).

NI Unemployment Falls, Yet Slower Than UK
Unemployment in Northern Ireland continues to fall, albeit slower than the rest of the UK, according to the latest figures released by the Labour Force Survey (LFS). The unemployment figure for the period January - March 2014 was 7.2%, down 0.1% from the rate recorded in the previous quarter and down 0.9% from the rate recorded one year ago.

Rise In Year-Long Unemployed
The number of people unemployed for one year or more in Northern Ireland rose 8.2 % to 55.6% over the period October - December 2014, according to the latest labour market figures. The unemployment rate for 18-24 year olds was 17.8%, down 5.4% over the year, compared to the UK average rate of 14.2%.
