Father And Son Assaulted In Co Down

A father and son have been assaulted by three masked men in Co Down.

The incident happened at a house on the Castlewellan Road in Ballyward between 11.40pm on Thursday, 22 February, and 12.10am on Friday, 23 February.

Two men were injured and a woman was treated for shock. Their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The three males made off with a sum of money.

Sinn Fein MLA Chris Hazzard said: "This is a vicious crime that has shocked the wider community.

A man has been sentenced to fifteen years imprisonment for causing the death of a three year-old boy in his care. Kayden McMcGuiness died in September 2017 after Liam Whoriskey inflicted brutal injuries on him, including a large number of bruises and bleeding over the surface of his brain.
