Investigation Launched Into Fatal Stabbing In L'Derry

Two men remain in police custody following a fatal stabbing in L'Derry in the early hours of Sunday, 04 March.

Karol Kelly, 35, was stabbed to death during a fight involving a group of men in Grafton Street, Rosemount, at about 2.40 am.

Two men, aged 19 and 20, remain in custody. A 27-year-old man has been released on police bail.

Police are working to establish the "precise sequence of events" that led to the incident.

Sinn Féin MP Elisha McCallion expressed her shock at the death of Mr Kelly.

She said: "The community in the Rosemount area and indeed the wider city has been shocked by this incident in which a 35-year-old man was killed last night.

"My thoughts are with the family and friends of this man and I want to express my condolences to them at this sad time.

"The PSNI has now launched a murder inquiry and I would encourage anyone with any information that can help that investigation to get in contact with the police."

Two men die in separate stabbing incidents
Two people have been killed in separate stabbing incidents in Northern Ireland over the weekend. Hugh McKibben, 51, of Main Street in Carrowdore died in a stabbing incident at a house on Inisharoan Court about midnight on Sunday May 5. Four people were arrested following his murder but three have since been released on police bail.

Man Arrested Following Two Stabbing Incidents In Belfast
A 27-year-old man has been arrested following two stabbing incidents in Belfast city centre. The injuries to both victims are not believed to be life-threatening. Inspector Donna McGrady said police were alerted at about 1.15am by a member of the public on Bedford Street to a fight going on in the area.

Man Released On Bail Over College Stabbing Incident
A man, 20, who was arrested in connection with a stabbing at a college in Belfast has been released on bail. Police said the man was released pending further enquiries. A 26-year-old is currently in hospital following the incident at Belfast Metropolitan College on Thursday. His condition is described as serious but stable.
