Sinn Féin's 'Respect' Comments Contradicted By Their Actions

DUP Deputy Leader Nigel Dodds has said that Sinn Féin's "respect" comments are contradicted by their actions.

Deputy Dodds said that the party's continued disrespect for the victims of violence contradict comments about respect, equality and power sharing.

The North Belfast MP said: "Mary Lou McDonald's comments about respect stand in stark contrast to the actions of Sinn Féin and their disrespect towards the victims of terrorism. There is no respect displayed by Sinn Féin when it comes to the naming of McCreesh Park. Furthermore, it clearly contradicts references to reconciliation within the Belfast Agreement that Sinn Féin demand should be implemented in full.

"If Sinn Féin are serious about seeing devolution restored in Northern Ireland then they should drop their red lines and show a greater willingness to work with unionists rather than to "break the b******s".

"Four of the five largest parties in Northern Ireland would restore devolution tomorrow. Sinn Féin's narrow agenda is preventing that from happening. That narrow agenda is what drives Sinn Féin today rather than any commitment to either the Belfast Agreement or to the restoration of devolution."
