Number Of Arrests Made In Paramilitary Crime Task Force Operation

Seven people have been arrested as part of an operation by the Paramilitary Crime Task Force across Belfast.

A 32-year-old man arrested on Friday, 13 April, has been charged with brothel keeping and concealing criminal property. He is expected to appear at Belfast Magistrates court today, Monday 16 April.

A 22-year-old woman arrested later on Friday as part of the same operation, has also been charged with controlling prostitution and brothel keeping. She is also expected to appear at Belfast Magistrates court on Monday.

A 48-year-old man arrested in connection with alleged trafficking and controlling prostitution offences has been released pending a report to the PPS.

Detectives conducting the operation, which focuses on the activities of the INLA, on Saturday arrested a 55-year-old man in the greater Belfast area under terrorism legislation. Three other men detained on Friday under terrorism legislation remain in custody.

A total of seven people were arrested as part of this operation, three in connection with alleged offences related to controlling prostitution and four under the Terrorism Act.

Four Arrests Follow Assault Rifle Discovery
Police have arrested four men after an assault rifle and ammunition were discovered in a vehicle in Belfast. The men were detained and have been taken to Antrim police station for questioning. The arrests have been made in relation to dissident republican activity.

Ballast Probe Sees Further Arrests
A court appearance is pending for three men who have been charged with membership of the outlawed Ulster Volunteer Force (UVF). The trio - aged 32, 40 and 60 - have also been charged in connection with a pipe bomb attack on a house in Larne seven years ago. A fourth man arrested has been released pending a report to the Public Prosecution Service.

Five arrests follow customs fuel operations
Five arrests have been made relating to two separate customs fuel operations in the past week. In the first operation last Wednesday investigators assisted by police uncovered around 18,500 litres of suspected illegal fuel at five different premises in Belfast and North Down.

Police have raided a number of properties in Belfast that are suspected of being used as brothels. According to reports, a small number of people have been arrested and a number of people, believed to be victims of human trafficking, have been rescued.

Yet another post office has been targeted by robbers. Yesterday, Killyman PO, near Dungannon was the latest to be hit. Although no one was hurt, a trend of such rural hold-ups is emerging after other such post offices - including a mobile - have been targeted over the last week.

Arrests Follow Human Trafficking Raids
At the same time as gardaí were today making six arrests following a series of raids on suspected brothels across the Irish Republic - the PSNI was also carrying out raids in Co Down. They have arresting a man in Newry after searching a flat as part of what has turned out to be a major British Isles-wide operation against human trafficking.

Lurgan Arrests In Anti-Dissident Operation
After this week's news that Gardaí investigating the activities of dissident republicans arrested five men in the Monasterevin area of Co Kildare, three men in NI are now being questioned in connection with dissident republican violence. The men were detained by the PSNI Serious Crime Branch during searches in Lurgan, Co Armagh, on Friday morning.

25 Arrested Over Accessing Indecent Images Of Children Online
A total of 25 people have been arrested as part of a joint operation by the PSNI and the National Crime Agency (NCA) against those accessing indecent images of children online. PSNI Release Images In Union Flag Investigation
Detectives from the Operation Dulcet Investigation team have released a further 13 images of people they are eager to speak to in relation to disturbances surrounding the union flag protests. Many Arrests In Gardaí Drugs Raids
A total of 45 people have been arrested in the past 48 hours in Gardaí a crackdown on the sale and supply of heroin and 'crack' cocaine in the Dublin region. The operation, which involved Garda drug units from Kevin Street, Pearse Street and Store Street stations, resulted in 150 charges being brought, according to Gardaí this morning.
