Jolene Corr Dies 16 Months After Attack In Co Down

Tributes have been paid to a mother-of-one after an attack in Downpatrick, Co Down, left her in a coma.

Jolene Corr, 27, sustained severe brain injuries after being assaulted in December 2016.

She died at a hospice on Thursday, 26 April.

In a social media post her sister wrote: "Our beautiful Jolene Corr passed away peacefully in the arms of her mother and surrounded by loved ones at 1.50am.

She added: "Words will never describe how much we all love her and how much we will miss her. RIP with your granny Patsy."

Charges against a 32-year-old man are to be reviewed.

Homes Evacuated In Co Tyrone And Co Down
Homes have been evacuated in two separate security alerts in County Tyrone and County Down today, 19 January. In the first security alert, a suspicious object was found at at a house on the Gortgonis Road in Coalisland. A number of nearby houses have been evacuated and the public asked to avoid the area at this time.

Four Men Sentenced Over Co Antrim ATM Thefts
Four men have been sentenced in connection with a series of ATM thefts in the County Antrim area over four years ago. The investigation related to a number of ATM thefts between 27th October 2018 and 6th December 2019, including the theft of two cash machines at a supermarket on Castle Way in Antrim.

PSNI Investigating Fatal Collision Near Bready, Co Tyrone
An investigation has been launched following a fatal road traffic collision near Bready, Co Tyrone. At around 1.40pm on Sunday, 07 April, police responded to a report of a single vehicle collision on the Victoria Road. When police arrived it was discovered that a white Seat Leon had left the carriageway close to the junction with Grangefoyle Road.

'Significant Quantity' Of Tablets Discovered On Co Down Beach
The PSNI have issued a warning following the discovery of a "significant quantity" of tablets of County Down's Cloughey beach on the afternoon of Wednesday, 03 April. Officers responded to reports that large quantity of tablets in plastic blister packs had been found on the beach.

McAvoy Group open £1.5m factory expansion in Dungannon
Sir Reg Empey, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Investment, has official opened a new factory for The McAvoy Group, as part of a £1.5 million expansion by the firm. The factory extends production facilities to 120,000 sq ft, and marks a key event in the 30th anniversary celebrations as the company marks the formation of the business in 1972.
