Three Arrested After Viable Bomb Found In Strabane

Three men have been arrested after a viable bomb was found during a security alert in Strabane.

The discovery was made at a property in the Drumrallagh estate on Sunday, 29 April.

Around 10 homes had to be evacuated during the alert which was being carried out as part of a police investigation into violent dissident republican activity.

Army technical experts made the device safe and it has been taken away for further examination.

The men are being questioned under the Terrorism Act.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Homes Evacuated In West Belfast Security Alert
A number of homes have been evacuated following the discovery of a suspicious object in west Belfast. The object was found in the Slieveban Avenue area of Andersontown at 11.30am on Wednesday 07 November. No main roads have been affected by the security alert. There are no further details at this time.

A £36,000 investment is to see the installation of free Wi-Fi in Strabane, County Tyrone. Business park extension to create 90 jobs
Around 90 new jobs are to be created in Co Tyrone thanks to a £1.2 million business park extension. Strabane Enterprise Agency announced the decision to extend its premises at Orchard Road Industrial Estate which will see an additional 22 units added to the complex.

Man tied up and robbed in Co Antrim
A man has been tied up and robbed at his home in Co Antrim. He was in the garage of his home in the Ballywillan area of Portrush when two men broke in and attacked him. They demanded money and the keys to his van before escaping with a sum of money. The van was later found burnt out near Coleraine.

Two Arrested Over Strabane Shooting
Two men have been arrested in connection with a shooting incident in Strabane, Co Tyrone. The shooting occurred in the Ballycolman Estate at around 7pm on Thursday evening. A man, said to be aged 28, was injured in the attack. He was taken to hospital with two gunshot wounds to his left foot, and one to his right leg.

Two suspicious objects have been removed for further examination after sparking a security alert in south Belfast. A number of houses were evacuated following the discovery in Ulidia House on the Donegall Road on the evening of Thursday 15 November. The area was sealed off while Army Bomb Experts carried out forensic examinations.

A suspected gun has been found following a security operation in Strabane, County Tyrone. Police were carrying out searches linked to dissident republican activity in the Melvin Road and Ballycolman Estate areas on Tuesday night. Army bomb disposal experts were also at the scene.

Viable Device Found In Co Tyrone
A viable device has been found following a security alert near Strabane, County Tyrone. A device was found on Ballyheather Road on Tuesday. The road has now been re-opened between the junctions of the Lisdivin Road and Clogher Road. Police and army bomb experts attended the scene.

Three Held Over Donegal Murder
Three men have been arrested in connection with the murder of Andrew Burns last week. The victim, aged 27, from Strabane in Co Tyrone, was found dead outside a church at Doneyloop, Castlefin a few kilometres across the border in Co Donegal. He had been shot. The men, aged 18, 33 and 42 are currently being questioned at Antrim Serious Crime Suite.

Three Arrested In Connection With Ballymena Murder
Police are treating the death of a 69-year-old man from Ballymena as murder. The victim was discovered in the Drumtara area on Tuesday afternoon. Two men, aged 41 and 49, and a woman, 47, have been arrested and are in police custody. Police are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.

TWO men have been arrested in connection with a violent dispute at a double wedding in Strabane which saw one man shot and another stabbed. The disturbances occurred at around 1pm on Wednesday 18 July prior to the arrival of the brides, who were due to take part in a double wedding at St Mary’s Catholic Church on the Melmount Road.

Three people have been arrested following a security alert in Belfast on Wednesday. One man was arrested after an explosive device was found at a property in Kildare Street in the north of the city. During the same alert, but at a separate address in the same street, a man and woman were arrested after police recovered a firearm.

Omagh bomb investigators arrest three men
Three men have been arrested in the Republic of Ireland in connection with the Omagh bombing in 1998. One man in his 20s and another in his 30s were arrested in Monaghan on Sunday morning and a third man in 30s was arrested in Co Louth on Monday morning. Seven Police Officers Disciplined Over Pensioner's Death
Seven police officers have been disciplined over an investigation into the death of Lisburn man Jim Heasley in October 2010. The 70-year-old was assaulted as he walked home from Lagan Valley Pigeon Club. An investigation by the Police Ombudsman found a series of failings in the initial police response.
