'Crude But Viable Device' Recovered Following Moygashel Security Alert

Police have recovered a "crude but viable device" following a security alert in the Moygashel area of Co Tyrone.

A number of residents were evacuated from their homes following reports a suspicious object had been left in the area at around 10.15am on Thursday, 10 May.

Detective Inspector Mulholland said: "The object was examined by ATO who have declared it to be a crude but viable device that has now been made safe and taken away for further examination.

"Police would like to thank the local community for their patience and cooperation during the operating."

Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

South Belfast Bomb 'Made Safe'
Army bomb experts have made safe a 'viable device' that was found in the Village area of south Belfast on Tuesday evening. Police were alerted over a suspect object discovered at Kilburn Street, off the Donegall Road, just before 20:30. A controlled explosion was carried out at the scene.
