SF Renews Call Over Safety Measures In Tower Blocks

Sinn Féin spokesperson on Housing Carál Ní Chuilín has reiterated a call for comprehensive measures to be taken to ensure the safety of tower blocks in Northern Ireland.

The North Belfast MLA was speaking following the publication of a review into building regulations established after the Grenfell fire tragedy.

She commented: "The full extent of the review and any implications for tower blocks here needs to be studied but there will be disappointment that it stopped short of recommending a complete ban on combustible cladding.

"Nevertheless we have been engaging closely with the Housing authorities ever since the Grenfell tragedy to ensure that comprehensive measures are in place to ensure the maximum level of fire safety and the protection of residents."
