Finvarraband Scoops Prestigious Award In Los Angeles

The Head teacher of Belfast Dreams School of Music in Northern Ireland has scooped a prestigious award in Los Angeles.

Mick Ferguson, who is also a musician in Finvarraband, received the Akademia Music Award for Best World Beat Song for 'A Hard Heart'.

Finvarraband which has roots in Belfast, Dublin and North America won the award.

In a statement Akademia said: "It is with great pleasure that we formally congratulate you on winning The Akademia Music Award for Best World Beat Song for 'A Hard Heart' in the June 2018 Akademia Music Awards. This is an important achievement and you should be very proud of your accomplishments! We are pleased to present you with your permanent award certificate."

The song was produced at Belfast Dreams School of Music which was created to help students who want to make music a hobby or career.

Home Safety And Crime Prevention Event At Belfast City Hall
A free home safety and crime prevention advice event is to be held at Belfast City Hall on Friday, 01 March. The Belfast Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) has organised the event, which is free and will take place from 10am-1pm in Belfast City Hall. Belfast Man Handed Two-Year Stalking Protection Order
The PSNI have welcomed a two-year Stalking Protection Order (SPO) handed down to a 46-year-old Belfast man at Belfast Magistrates Court. The man had been found guilty of stalking and harassing his 50-year-old female ex-partner.
