European Law Firm To Create 125 New Jobs In Northern Ireland
Up to 125 new legal and business support jobs are to be created in Northern Ireland.
European law firm Fieldfisher is opening a new office to add to the firm's international office network, with services including Document Negotiation and Legal Support teams.
Invest NI has offered £630,000 towards the creation of the new jobs.
Alastair Hamilton, Chief Executive Officer of Invest Northern Ireland, said: "Northern Ireland's legal sector has gone from strength to strength and has attracted several of the UK's Top 50 firms. This is one of the priority sectors for inward investment and we are delighted Fieldfisher has joined this growing sector.
"Over the next three years Fieldfisher will be building its team in Northern Ireland with 125 roles across a range of functions. With an average salary in the mid £20,000s this investment will generate over £3.6million in annual salaries."
Michael Chissick, Managing Partner, Fieldfisher said: "We began exploring Northern Ireland as a base for this new office in early 2017, attracted by the stable supply of experienced and skilled people."
"Our new centre here will include senior positions in legal and risk management, as well as middle level technical and business support roles. We also have a number of roles suitable for graduates.
"The strong partnership between academia and industry was another attraction to investing here and ensures we will be able to work with colleges and universities to develop a future pipeline of qualified graduates.
"We have been through an incredible period of success and have been the fastest growing large UK law firm for the last two years. Northern Ireland is the next strategic stage in our continued growth and we are very excited to be able to provide a centre of excellence to support our offices around the world."
Alison Donaldson, Managing Partner of Donaldson Legal Consulting, will also become Managing Partner of Fieldfisher Belfast.

Belfast-based Purepipe is investing £250,000 and creating six new jobs as part of plans to boost sales in Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland. Invest Northern Ireland has offered the company £45,000 towards its expansion which involves investing in new state-of-the-art specialised pipe manufacturing equipment needed to target new business.

New RICS Chairman for Northern Ireland
The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) has appointed John Witchell, director of Blakiston Houston Estates, as Northern Ireland chairman for 2003. Mr Witchell succeeds Mike Smith, chief executive of Titanic Quarter, following election at the RICS NI annual general meeting.

An important housing organisation has been hailed a success as its new offices are opened. The NI Social Development Minister, Alex Attwood, has this week paid tribute to a life of service to the social housing sector, as he attended the official opening of new offices for the Northern Ireland Federation of Housing Associations (NIFHA).

Two Mallusk entrepreneurs have set up the 5000th new business to be started through the Start a Business programme, which has generated an estimated 8,250 new jobs across Northern Ireland. Oliver McErlane took part on the programme with business partner Tim Swann, before setting up their electronic marketing company, TxtFlow.
