260 Genesis Craft Bakery Jobs Saved

Some 260 jobs at Genesis Craft bakery in Magherafelt have been saved in a last minute take over deal.

According to a report by the BBC, Paul Allen, Tayto's chief executive in NI, has agreed to buy the struggling family business.

It is understood that the business will enter administration but the takeover deal is already in place and is expected to transpire within 24 hours.

Established by the McErlain family in 1968, the business has been run by six of their children, however, five of those are due to leave the firm in the takeover deal, according to the report.

The price of the takeover deal has not been revealed.
