Will Grigg Returns To NI Squad

Will Grigg is returning to the Northern Ireland squad after receiving his first call up in nearly two years.

The Wigan Athletic striker will be part of the squad to take place in the inaugural Nations League tournament.

Northern Ireland will face Bosnia & Herzegovina in their first match of the tournament at Windsor Park on Saturday 08 September.

Grigg has been called up to the squad after an impressive goal scoring run in club football. He recently scored a brace in Wigan's 3-0 victory over Stoke City on Wednesday night, 22 August.

NI manager Michael O'Neill said: "People have made a lot of Will's absence, but there's been nothing behind that – he opted out for personal reasons and then had bad a knee injury.

"The big challenge is when you step up a level, can you score the goals? And he's doing that."

Returning Rangers footballer Kyle Lafferty is among five other strikers named in the squad.

The full squad is available below:

Goalkeepers: McGovern (Norwich City), Carson (Motherwell), Peacock-Farrell (Leeds United).

Defenders: Cathcart (Watford), J. Evans (Leicester City), Hughes (Hearts), McAuley (unattached), C. McLaughlin (Millwall), McNair (Middlesbrough), Smith (Hearts), Lewis (Norwich City).

Midfielders: Davis (Southampton), McGinn (Aberdeen), Dallas (Leeds), C. Evans (Blackburn), Ferguson (Millwall), Saville (Millwall), Jones (Kilmarnock), Norwood (Sheffield United).

Forwards: Lafferty (Rangers), Boyce (Burton Albion), Magennis (Bolton Wanderers), Grigg (Wigan Athletic), Washington (Queen's Park Rangers), Ward (Nottingham Forest).
