Protest At Queen's University Against Hillary Clinton Visit

A protest has been planned against Hillary Clinton's visit to Queen's University Belfast next week.

The former US Secretary of State will receive an honorary degree from the Belfast university, in recognition of her "exceptional public service in the USA and globally" as well as her "outstanding contribution" to peace and reconciliation in Northern Ireland.

It is understood that Socialist Youth NI is planning to protest the visit.

Circulating the event on Facebook, an organiser posted: "Hillary Clinton is no peacemaker. She supported George Bush's Iraq war, pushed for Obama's surge of troops into Afghanistan and was central to pushing for military intervention in Libya, which has caused untold destruction.

"Come to this protest to oppose Clinton receiving this honour and support those in the United States and across the world fighting for an alternative."
