Northern Ireland Town To Hold Memorial After Two Recent Deaths

Residents of a Co Tyrone town have organised a vigil for two people who died in the Coolnafranky area in recent months.

The memorial follows the sudden death of Aine Campbell, who was in her 20's, at a house in Coolnafranky Park in Cookstown on Monday.

Aine passed away in the same house as 36-year-old Lurgan man Liam Campbell in June.

No cause of death has been determined yet in either case.

The vigil will take place at the entrance to Coolnafranky Park at 7pm on Saturday 06 October.

An organiser said the local people want to show their "sympathy and solidarity" with the families affected by the recent tragic deaths.

Game Of Thrones To 'Live On' In NI For A Decade

The hit HBO show Game of Thrones is to 'live on' in Northern Ireland for the next ten years, as filming is now coming to an end.

Head of NI Screen Richard Williams made the announcement as he outlined their strategy for the next four years.

The series is partly filmed at Titanic Studios in Belfast as well as other locations around the country, and the finale will be screened next year.

NI Screen, the national screen agency for Northern Ireland, has invested approximately £16m of public money over the eight seasons of the drama series, an investment that has generated an estimated return of £210m from areas such as tourism and associated services.

As well as announcing the show will live on for at least a decade, he also hinted at the possibility of spin-off series which may be filmed in NI.

"Game of Thrones is still occupying Titanic Studios and I can't really think about what might replace them when they leave," he said.

"I can't say too much, but it is in the pubic domain that they have ambitions to have spin-off content likely to be a prequel in terms of the storytelling, so who knows?

"In many ways, Game of Thrones is irreplaceable."

Mr Williams was speaking at the launch of Opening Doors Two, NI Screen's strategy to grow the industry in Northern Ireland until 2022.

He also explained that the show redefined the culture of high-end TV, creating a huge market for similar content to be made which companies like Amazon are starting to focus on.
