Theresa May: Brexit Deal Is Still Achievable
Prime Minister Theresa May has insisted that a Brexit deal is "still achievable".
She also called for "cool, calm heads" and said it was "frustrating" that two sides could not agree how to guarantee no hard border in Northern Ireland.
Mrs May was speaking in the House of Commons after talks last week failed to bridge differences with the UK and EU over the NI border.
Speaking to MPs she said: "I continue to believe that a negotiated deal is the best outcome for the UK and for the European Union.
"I continue to believe that such a deal is achievable.
"And that is the spirit in which I will continue to work with our European partners."
Jeremy Corbyn said Mrs May should make way for Labour rather than be "buffeted this way and that way by the chaos of her own party".
Mrs May continued: "I need to be able to look the British people in the eye and say this backstop is a temporary solution."
