Travel training company launched
A new travel training company based in Northern Ireland has been set up in response to an increasing demand for high quality, flexible home-study training courses for the travel industry.
Over 100 guests attended the official GTT Launch which took place last week in the Wellington Park Hotel, Belfast. The event was hosted by UTV’s Julian Simmons. The audience were inspired from key industry speakers from Aviance, International Academy of Travel, I-to-I Teaching and Volunteering Abroad.
Global Travel Training (www.globaltraveltraining.com) offers travel courses, which are internationally recognised by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and course materials are compliant with Joint Aviation Requirements (JAR-OPS).
The courses are tailored specifically to industry needs but do not require any prior knowledge and are suitable for anyone, any age that has a desire to work in the travel industry. Upon successful completion learners will be able to secure a travel position anywhere in the world in any the following career paths:
He said: “Our aim is to provide practical training to meet the needs of an evolving travel industry. We have developed close links with employers and travel recruitment specialists. Upon successful completion of our courses we will endeavour to assist students to find a suitable post in the industry. We aim to build up a Network for past and present GTT participants.”

Airtours reveals worldwide job losses
UK travel operator Airtours has announced plans to axe 1,600 jobs despite recently reporting a 57 per cent rise in annual operating profits. The company have described the job losses as unavoidable, citing the tough trading conditions created in the wake of the September 11 terror attacks as adversely impacting on leisure travel industry.
