Two Weather Warnings Issued For Wind And Rain

The Met Office has issued two yellow weather warnings for wind and rain in Northern Ireland over the next few days.

A yellow warning for rain comes into effect on Wednesday night, 07 November, along the east coast. Transport delays are expected.

All of Northern Ireland has been issued a yellow warning for strong winds and heavy rain on Friday, 09 November.

The Met Office has warned of a potential short term loss of power and flooding may also occur.

Journey times are also expected to be longer with a risk of flooding on roads.

Colum Eastwood, the leader of Northern Ireland's Social Democratic and Labour Party, has confirmed his intentions to contest the upcoming European Parliament election. Voters will take to the polls on Thursday 23 May to elect MEPs for the region.

SF: A United Ireland Is Now A Realistic Prospect
Sinn Fein's Deputy Leader Michelle O'Neill has said the prospect of Irish unity is now a very real one. The Stormont party leader indicated that Brexit was among other "political and societal changes" that are driving many towards the "logic" of Irish unity.

Man Arrested By Police Probing INLA Activities Detectives investigating the activities of the dissident republican INLA group have arrested a 49-year-old man. He is being detained under the Terrorism Act. The arrest follows a search of a property in Strabane this morning. The man is being questioned at Musgrave Police Station.
